The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee has announced its support to the Telangana Bandh call given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao in protest against the proposal of Rayala Telangana.
Speaking to media persons after the TPJAC's extended steering committee meet at AP Bhavan here, TPJAC Chairman Prof. M Kodandaram said that all pro-Telangana groups including BJP, CPI, New Democracy and other groups have agreed to support the call for a bandh on Thursday.
"What we want is Sampoorna Telangana comprising of 10 districts, with Hyderabad as its capital. Any modifications like the formation of Rayala Telangana will be opposed strongly," he said.
Kodandaram said that it would be the responsibility of Congress leaders from the Telangana region to get "Sampoorna Telangana" from the Centre.
He said that the Telangana Congress leaders, especially the ministers in both the state and the Union Cabinet, would be held responsible, if the Centre makes any changes in the original demand for Telangana.
He said that the Telangana state should not have any strings attached and that it should be on par with other states in the country.
Meanwhile, the employees unions of Singareni Collieries, Secretariat JAC and other unions have also extended their support to the Telangana Bandh call. (INN)
