The government orders for allotment were unveiled today by Minority Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar.
Respect for religion and priority for humanity were the goals of the Revanth Reddy government, State Minority Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said today.
In a meeting organized in Rahmatnagar of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency today, Laxman, ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Gaddam Vivek, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, State Minority Affairs Advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Telangana State Minority Finance Corporation Obedullah Kotwal, MLC Mohammed Azharuddin and religious leaders unveiled
Speaking on the occasion, Laxman said that the historic decision taken by the State government to allocate graveyards for the Muslims was proof of the sincerity of the Congress government towards and its commitment to the minorities of the State.
He said that the decision had been taken despite the lack of space in the areas in and around Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Sheikhpet and Golconda, and that the legal and geographical obstacles were being removed in coordination with the HMDA and the district Collectors.
He said that just as Muslims had dignity in life, they needed to have dignity after death, too, and that the fact that this government had resolved the issue of the graveyard lands that had been pending for decades was a mark of the respect given by it to the Muslims.
"Under the guidance of our party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress government in Telangana is following a clear path towards social justice and the advancement of the minorities. The Congress is the only party in the country that stands by the weaker sections," the minister claimed.
"We will also allocate special funds for the development of the old graveyards. We will undertake lighting, drainage, roads and water supply works. We will construct a boundary wall to prevent encroachment. The goal is to identify at least one burial ground in each constituency," he said.
The minister alleged that the problems of the minorities were neglected during the previous TRS regime, but that the Congress government had gotten them to trust the government again. "If we give a word, we will work to fulfill it. That is the credo of the Congress," he claimed.
He also said that the appointment of Chairmen to six minority corporations immediately after he took charge of the minority department reflected the sincerity of his government towards the minorities.
He added that coordination was also going on with the various district Collectors for the protection of the waqf sites and the graveyard lands.
He urged the Muslims in Jubilee Hills to ensure the win of the Congress in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly seat by-election. "Our government kept its promise, and now the Muslims should repay it," Laxman said.
