The BJP today announced its candidates for the upcoming elections in two of Telangana's graduates' constituencies.
The party has approved the candidature of sitting MLC N Ramchander Rao for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar constituency and leader G Premender Reddy for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal constituency.
The Election Commission of India has already
announced the schedule for the elections, which are to be held on March 14, Sunday. The results of the same will reportedly be announced after three days, on March 17.
As per the EC's circular, the polling process for the MLC posts in the two graduates' constituencies will start at 8 am and will close at 4 pm.
The EC's circular also stated that the notification for the MLC elections would be issued on February 16, and that the nominations of candidates would be accepted till February 23. The filed nominations will then be scrutinised on the following day, February 24, and candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till February 26.
The tenure of the incumbent MLCs in the two constituencies, TRS' Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and BJP's N Ramachandra Rao, will expire on March 29.
TRS sitting MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy will contest in the elections in a bid to retain his Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat this year as well.
The Congress has also
announced its candidates for the elections - All-India party president Sonia Gandhi approved the candidature of Ramulu Naik for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal constituency and G Chinna Reddy for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar constituency.
It is expected that while 5,21,386 voters will vote in the Hyderabad segment, 4,92,943 voters will do so in the Warangal segment.
