All-India Congress head Sonia Gandhi approved the candidature of G Chinna Reddy for the MLC elections in the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar constituency.

After a tedious shortlisting process, the Congress today announced its candidates for the upcoming elections in two of Telangana's graduates' constituencies.
All-India party president Sonia Gandhi approved the candidature of Ramulu Naik for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal constituency and G Chinna Reddy for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar constituency.
Reacting to this, veteran Congress leader and former minister G Chinna Reddy thanked the Congress high command for fielding him as its candidate for the MLC seat.
Speaking to the media, he expressed his confidence about the party's prospects in the upcoming MLC elections in two of the state's three graduates' constituencies, and added that fellow party leader T Jeevan Reddy had also won a seat in last year’s MLC elections.
The leader then launched an attack on both the state and the union governments, and alleged that they had cheated the people of the state by promising them jobs, and then not taking any steps to make good on the promises.
"Although Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had promised to fill all the vacant government job posts during the campaigns for the last Assembly elections, he seems to have forgotten his promise after the elections. A total of 1.91 lakh vacancies need to be filled as per the recent PRC report. The delays in recruitment are shameful, and the government should give each unemployed youth of the state an unemployment dole of Rs 72,400. This should have been given in the last two years as well," he said.
"I demand that the state government release a calendar to outline its plans on filling the existing vacancies in the state at least now. 25,000 teachers' posts also need to be filled. Further, the government must work for the welfare of its current employees, and must implement a 30% wage hike for all the employees," Reddy added.
He also urged the unemployed people to vote for him, and promised to launch a fast unto death to secure good employment for them, if he was elected as MLC.
The veteran leader then demanded that the Centre exempt all retired employees, irrespective of age, from filing income tax papers.
