Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the Krishna and Godavari rivers were the lifeline of Telangana, and that the State government would not compromise on its rightful share of water from the two rivers.
Addressing the Telangana Praja Palana Dinotsavam after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Telangana Merger Day at Public Gardens in Hyderabad, the CM said, "We are ready for a legal battle to rectify the mistakes committed by the previous government in the Krishna water sharing and secure firm rights over every drop of water. We have already given clear directions to our engineers and legal experts. We are formulating a strategy to ensure Telangana gets its fair share of 904 TMC from the Krishna waters," Reddy said.
He added that while trying for compensation for the losses caused by past negligence, the government was working with a strategic plan to attain permanent rights, and was aiming to dedicate the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) to the people by December 9, 2027.
