Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that Hyderabad was the State government's strength and brand, and announced long-term plans to position the city on the global stage.
"The government is formulating long-term strategies to showcase the Hyderabad brand to the world. Our goal is to make Telangana a one trillion dollar economy by 2035 and a three trillion dollar economy by 2047. Hyderabad will serve as a gateway to the world once these economic goals are achieved," Reddy said.
Addressing the Telangana Praja Palana Dinotsavam after unfurling the national flag on Telangana Merger Day at Public Gardens, the Chief Minister said that the government was preparing a master plan for the entire State. "Our resolve is to develop Hyderabad and Telangana with international-standard infrastructure, and transform the city into one of the cleanest and most livable cities, with improved roads, highways, transport, power supply, sewage, drainage and clean air," he said.
The CM also said that the government's efforts were already yielding results, as Hyderabad had become a major destination for international investments worth lakhs of crores, and was emerging as a hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
"To secure Hyderabad's drinking water needs for the next 100 years, we have begun the Godavari Phase 2 and 3 projects at a cost of Rs 7,360 crore. The Musi Rejuvenation Project and the Gandhi Sarovar Project are also underway to enhance the city's brand image. The Gateway of Hyderabad, located on the ORR, will serve as a grand welcome arch," he added.
The CM said that the government was also undertaking the second phase of the Metro Rail expansion at an estimated cost of Rs 24,000 crore. Another 76.4 km of metro network would be developed in that phase in addition to the existing 69 km, he said.
