The Telangana BJP today urged the Chief Election Commissioner to reject the nomination papers of K Kavitha, ex-MP and daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, for suppressing facts in her affidavit filed for the election to the MLC post from Nizamabad district.
BJP floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Council and Greater Hyderabad BJP President N Ramchander Rao told media persons in a video conference that the Nizamabad district BJP president had written a letter to the CEC recently detailing the "false" information furnished by the TRS candidate by undervaluing her assets in her affidavit.
Kavitha should be disqualified for furnishing false information to the Election Commissioner, the senior BJP leader said.
Rao also alleged that the TRS was indulging in intimidating and luring members of the electoral college to win the MLC elections.
He pointed out that the TRS had usurped the Mayor post of the Nizamabad corporation with the help of the ex-officio members and the support of the MIM though the BJP was the single largest party winning 28 corporator posts. Now for the MLC elections the ruling party was also indulging in luring BJP corporators and ZPTC members who were members of the electorate college, he claimed.
Reacting on three BJP corporators joining the TRS recently, Rao accused the TRS of adopting unholy practices to increase its tally just before the MLC elections as the daughter of the Chief Minister had filed her nomination for the MLC post.
Rao said that the three corporators had told him that they took the decision as they were threatened by TRS leaders.
He alleged that the ruling party was indulging in such illegal tactics out of fear of defeat in Nizamabad, given that the BJP had won the Nizamabad MP seat defeating Kavitha. He strongly condemned the "political conspiracy" of the TRS, and demanded that the government provide security to the BJP members of the electoral college immediately.
