With the deadline for the filing of nominations for the upcoming MLC elections in the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar and Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduates' constituencies now just a day away, the candidates of several parties today rushed to file their nominations for the same.
Among them was the TRS candidate for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat, former PM P V Narasimha Rao's daughter Surabhi Vani Devi, who filed her nomination after receiving the B Form from party supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. However, she was asked to resubmit her form on Tuesday after it was reportedly rejected for failing to adhere fully to the Election Commission's parameters.
Two other candidates contesting for the same seat, MLC N Ramchander Rao of the BJP and G Chinna Reddy of the Congress, also filed their nominations today.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress MP A Revanth Reddy asked the people of the state to support G Chinna Reddy, and assured them that the candidate would always fight for their rights.
The MP also took the opportunity to assail the CM for fielding Vani Devi from a seat which the TRS "does not have any chances of winning", and said, "If the CM truly wanted to honour the former PM's legacy and his family, he could easily have nominated Vani Devi using the Governor's quota, or sent a nomination to the Rajya Sabha. His ploy to field her from a losing seat will only tarnish Narasimha Rao's image. We will not tolerate this," he said.
Meanwhile, BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar accompanied the party's candidate for the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal seat G Premender Reddy for the nomination-filing procedure. Other leaders who also filed nominations today include TJS' M Kodandaram, Inti Party's Cheruku Sudhakar, and independent candidates Teenmar Mallanna and Rani Rudrama.
