TDP leader Nara Lokesh today accused the ruling YSRCP of using hired goons and criminals to suppress the rising voices of the people against the Jagan Mohan Reddy "misrule".
He condemned the latest "attack by the YSRCP activists" on a dalit woman named Karlapudi Venkayamma for voicing her strong feelings against the government's policies.
The "YSR Congress Party activists" had attacked her house at Kantheru in Guntur district, Lokesh alleged.
The TDP MLC said that all sections of the people in the State were expressing the same opinions as those of Venkayamma, and that she simply showed more courage.
"Venkayamma just expressed her concern that the poor people were leading miserable lives under the Jagan rule. Instead of realising their mistakes, the ruling party leaders threatened the dalit woman and her family members and relatives. Every citizen is vexed with the manner in which the YSRCP is targeting critics and rivals," Lokesh said.
He said that there would be serious repercussions if any harm were to be done to the illiterate and poor SC women.
Lokesh also criticised Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for unleashing attacks on political rivals.
The TDP leader decried the attack by "YSRCP miscreants" in which the car of TDP State secretary Sainatha Sarma was vandalised and damaged in Kadapa district.
Lokesh said that the TDP leader was targeted just because he was exposing the corruption of Reddy's maternal uncle and MLA Ravindranath Reddy.
The TDP MLC claimed that the Chief Minister and his party's MLAs were suffering from the phobia of defeat in the next elections, and due to that, they were trying to use threats and intimidation. But the people would not be afraid of the ruling party's attacks and victimisation any more, he said.
