MLC and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Sunday condemned the latest attack by "the ruling YSRCP's goons" on a TDP leader, this time on the head of the TDP Mahila Wing of Nellore Kappira Revathi near the Santapeta police station in Nellore city.
Lokesh said that Revathi and her husband were victimised just for making some comments against former minister P Anil Kumar Yadav.
"Revathi's husband was called to the police station where he was being harassed. When she was going to the police station to ask about this, the ruling party goons attacked her near the police station," Lokesh said.
The MLC said that the YSRCP leaders were growing increasingly insecure, and launching attacks on the TDP cadre and leaders just for the government's policies being questioned.
He added that the law and order situation was deteriorating to the most alarming levels in Andhra Pradesh, with the police watching like silent spectators as goons and criminals violently targeted political rivals, the weaker sections, the backward classes, women, youth and employees.
Doubts were arising about whether the police force even existed in the State, Lokesh said.
Immediate action should be taken against the YCP miscreants who attacked Revathi and against the police who harassed her husband, he demanded.
The TDP leader also released videos showing Revathi narrating how she was attacked and injured. She was also threatened by knife-wielding goons, she claimed in the video, and asked how safe common women were in the State when goons attacked an activist like her right near a police station and at a time when the DGP himself was on a visit to Nellore.
