Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of the Telangana Congress, turned into a "Dharna Chowk" on Tuesday with aspirants, supported by their respective followers, staging protests over the denial of party tickets to them for the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Those who staged dharnas at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday included workers from Chandrayangutta and Sanathnagar constituencies in the city, Kollapur and Jadcherla constituences from Mahabubnagar, apart from others. Some Mahabubnagar workers shouted slogans against Mallu Ravi.
Women activists led by A P Mahila Congress Secretary Rajni Devi and others including D Lakshmi and Sarita Devi staged dharnas over denial of tickets to Akula Lalitha.
They alleged that injustice was done to women in the allocation of tickets, and that there wasn't a single woman candidate from Hyderabad. (INN)
