Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud today accused the previous BRS government of pushing the State into a debt crisis due to poor governance and lack of clear direction.
Speaking at an event in Nizamabad, he claimed that the administration of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had left the State burdened with significant debt.
"Despite all of that borrowing, not a single new ration card was issued during KCR's decade-long rule. In contrast, the current Congress government is preparing to issue 17 lakh new ration cards in the near future," he said.
Goud also alleged that the BRS had failed to fulfill its election promises while in power, including the construction of double-bedroom houses, thereby deceiving various sections of the population in its tenure.
He said that in contrast the Congress government, one and a half years in office now, continued to enjoy public support through the implementation of impactful development and welfare schemes.
"Despite financial constraints, programs like free bus travel for women and subsidised rice are ongoing, and the integrated schools are being established in every constituency with an investment of Rs 200 crore," he said.
