Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who heads the Infrastructure and Capital Sub-Committee, today instructed officials to make a concerted effort to boost non-tax revenue.
He also suggested securing Central funds.
A meeting of the sub-committee, chaired by Vikramarka and with committee members and ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in attendance, was held at the Secretariat.
On the occasion, Vikramarka said that the current government, without discontinuing a single scheme from the previous regime, was implementing new welfare programs worth Rs 33,600 crore.
He added that in the 2023-24 financial year, after assuming power, the new State government run by the Congress faced revenue losses in the Outer Ring Road and excise incomes.
The Deputy CM also spoke about imbalances in budget allocations, with some departments receiving excessive funds and others receiving too little. He instructed officials to ensure equitable budget distribution across all departments, reduce expenditure disparities and promote uniform development.
Major pending projects in all constituencies also needed to be prioritised and completed promptly, he said.
Vikramarka stressed that budget spending needed to align with the State's needs and priorities, that the departmental expenditures needed to be rationalised and managed based on importance, and that the revenue-generating departments needed to receive focused attention. "Expenditure should be incurred only as required," he said.
"Works under nationalisation must be completed, and spillover works should also be finished based on priority. Officials should complete the nationalisation process within the next ten days and prepare a comprehensive plan," he added.
He also said that all efforts needed to be aligned with the public interest, development and the welfare vision of the government.
