Former Team India cricketer Yalaka Venugopal Rao, 36, joined the Jana Sena today in the presence of its boss Pawan Kalyan.
A large number of Pawan Kalyan's fans also joined the party in the same event.
Venugopal Rao played his first one-day international cricket match against Sri Lanka in 2005, and his last one-dayer against West Indies in 2006. He made 218 runs in 16 matches at an average of 24. He played a lot of first class matches for Andhra Pradesh, and also played for Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat in between. His first class batting average was 41, and he has 17 hundreds and 30 fifties to his name. He also played in the IPL in eight seasons for three different teams, bought for $700,000 at his peak for Delhi Daredevils.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalyan said that his party was working on and fighting for public issues. He expressed confidence that his party would come to power in 2019. He also said that he would tour several areas in Visakhapatnam as part of his "Porata Yatra".
