TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was unanimously elected as the leader of the NDA's legislative party today.
The meeting of the TDP, the Jana Sena Party and the BJP legislative parties was held at a convention hall in Vijayawada this morning, where the election took place.
On the occasion, Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan conveyed his greetings to Naidu, who he said had four decades of political experience and had faced many ups and downs, and was best suited to run the State.
He said that the people of Andhra Pradesh had been crushed since the bifurcation of the State a decade back. "For the last five years, the State has been aware of the crisis situation. And that is why we all fought together. The people too were with us, and that is why we won an unprecedented 164 Assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats, and by an overwhelming majority," he said.
He also said that the victory of the NDA alliance in AP had inspired the entire country. "We have shown that this is how an alliance should be - without splitting a single vote," he said.
He also said that this was not the time for vendetta and personal abuse, and that everyone needed to work together to help the State develop. "In such a situation, we need a leader with long administrative experience. Chandrababu Naidu has four decades of political experience, and the ability to bring in investments, foreign businesses and leaders of other countries to AP," he said.
