Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the Lok Sabha elections for the State's seats were being held between Gujarat and Telangana teams, and that the Telangana people should defeat the Gujarat team in the finals.
Addressing a Jana Jathara Sabha at Kothagudem, the CM said that the Telangana people had defeated the BRS in the semi-final election held in December of last year, and in the same spirit, the BJP should be defeated in the final, the Lok Sabha elections.
"If the people vote for the BJP, all reservations will be abolished. And if the Congress is voted to power, reservations will be increased," Reddy said.
Pointing to the alleged statement of BJP general secretary Khushwant Kumar that the Constitution would be amended if the BJP came to power for a third term, the CM said that the BJP was like a sword hanging around the people's necks, and that the Congress workers should be ready to protect the Constitution.
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not only cheated the people of Telangana by not fulfilling the promises enshrined in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, but had also insulted the formation of Telangana by levelling derogatory remarks in Parliament.
The Chief Minister also slammed BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao for "trying to get votes by lying about power cuts, pensions and farmer loan waivers".
He reiterated that farm loans of upto Rs 2 lakh would be waived off by August 15, and promised that the Congress government was committed to fulfilling all its promises made during the Assembly election campaigning.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, MP Renuka Choudhary, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, some Congress MLAs and other elected representatives were present.
