BRS working president K T Rama Rao today claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would be the first person to join the BJP after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the signs were there for all to see when Revanth Reddy addressed PM Narendra Modi as his elder brother, and also pointed out that Revanth Reddy had never said that he would be in the Congress for the rest of his life.
He also claimed that Revanth Reddy had sent Rs 2,500 crore to Delhi so far.
KTR participated in a meeting of the BRS Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency cadre. The party's MLAs, MPs, MLCs, corporators and senior leaders from the constituency attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Congress did not have guts to stop the BJP in the country.
"The situation of the Congress in Telangana is strange. It resembles the BJP in the State," he said, and adding that while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called industrialist Adani a bad man, CM Revanth Reddy called the same person a good man.
He said that the Congress would not cross 40 MP seats across the country in the upcoming elections.
KTR also alleged that rice millers were being blackmailed and builders being threatened in the State in the name of scams. He asked why Revanth Reddy, who was also the State municipal minister, was giving permission for buildings for three months.
Speaking about the party's candidate for the Secunderabad seat Padma Rao, he said that the Secunderabad area was synonymous with Padma Rao's name where politics were concerned, and that Rao had been supporting the party in the State capital for the past 24 years. "When Padma Rao is contesting, everyone is saying that the party will win. Leaders are those who stand by the party in difficult times," he said.
Talking about the desertion of MLA Danam Nagender, KTR said that there would be no murders in politics, but there would be suicides. "He has betrayed the people who have voted for him, and I am confident that the people of Khairatabad will ensure the victory of our party and prove his decision wrong. Everyone is saying that Nagender has gone for opportunistic politics. The situation where he contested from Asif Nagar in the past and lost will repeat again," KTR said.
He also said that a decision needed to be taken immediately by the Assembly Speaker on the complaint lodged against Nagender, and that if necessary the BRS would go to the Supreme Court and get Nagender disqualified.
"The by-election in Khairatabad will come within three to four months, and we should be prepared for it. And our contest in Secunderabad is not with the Congress, and the people are not taking Nagender seriously," he said.
Targeting union minister Kishan Reddy, KTR alleged that the former had done nothing for development of the Secunderabad constituency, and that there was not a single reason to vote for Kishan Reddy again in the upcoming elections.
"The city of Hyderabad has become a fortress for the BRS. The people of the city did not believe in the BJP, which is why we made a clean sweep. The people know about the drama being enacted by the BJP using Lord Rama," he said.
Padma Rao said that movements and struggles were not new to the BRS. "We will fight against the anti-people Congress policies. We will move forward by protecting the party ranks and the party. Every single leader in the city is now accessible to the activists. The BRS reached its heights because of the hard work and the sacrifices of lakhs of party workers and leaders. The party achieved Telangana by undertaking many movements, and developed Hyderabad and Telangana in the last 10 years. We will be in the opposition for the next five years if need be and continue the same efforts to develop the State," he said.
