Communist Party Of India (CPI) State Secretary, K Narayana, on Friday warned that his party will forcibly occupy the land allotted to various industries as Special Economic Zones (SEZs), if the state government does not look into illegitimate land allocation.
Talking to mediapersons at the party headquarters in Himayathnagar on Friday, the Left leader criticized the fact that the government was not responding to the opposition's call for a Joint Legislative Committee probe into the illegal land allotment.
Condemning the state government's irresponsible attitude towards the important public issue, Narayana said that the CPI will intensify its agitation against the land allotments for the SEZs.
He said that the CPI members will forcibly occupy the alleged illegitimate land, and then will distribute it among poor farmers who had been displaced in the name of industrialization.
When asked about his opinion on the 8th chapter of the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report, which expressed apprehensions that communal strife and Maoist activities would increase in the event of Andhra Pradesh being bifurcated, Narayana termed the report as baseless and demanded that the Centre speed up the formation of Telangana by consulting political leaders.
"The Telangana issue should be addressed politically and not through committees' reports," he stated.
Reacting to the Congress and TDP candidates' defeat in the Legislative Council elections, he said that money power has majorly influenced the election results.
