CPI National Secretary K Narayana today cautioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy that he could face jail time if powerful figures affected by his crackdown on illegal constructions in the buffer zones and Full Tank Level (FTL) areas of tanks and lakes conspired against him.
Speaking to the media at Maqdoom Bhavan, Narayana praised the functioning of HYDRA.
He also demanded that the State government recover money from actor Nagarjuna for the illegal construction of the N Convention convention centre and restore the Thammidikunta tank.
The CPI leader also alleged that certain individuals had sold their lands through illegal notary methods in the past, leading to a rise in unauthorized constructions.
Narayana urged the Chief Minister to convene an all-party meeting to address the issue of the government offices which AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi claimed were located within the FTL and buffer zones of the Hussain Sagar. He argued that since government buildings serve the public, it is unjust to demolish them or compare them to private constructions.
Narayana also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of rising to power by presenting himself as an ordinary citizen concerned for the poor while waiving off loans for industrialist friends amounting to lakhs of crores. He mockingly said that with the exception of fugitive Vijay Mallya all loan defaulters were from Gujarat. Narayana further alleged that the State-owned stock market regulator (SEBI) was under the influence of industrialist Gautam Adani.
He also accused the RSS of attempting to replace Modi.
Highlighting the increase in essential commodity prices over the past decade, Narayana announced that the CPI would lead a nationwide protest from September 1 to 7 against the price hikes.
On the topic of Krishnashtami celebrations, Narayana demanded that all jails be cleaned as a jail was the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
