The Supreme Court today transferred the sensational murder case of former Kadapa MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana.
The court said that it was transferring the case to the special CBI Court in Hyderabad, and that it was transferring the case taking into consideration the fundamental rights of the daughter of Vivekananda Reddy, Sunitha Reddy, who had said that she was not happy with the trial in the case.
The judge, Justice M R Shah, passed the orders while dealing with a petition filed by Sunitha Reddy urging the court to transfer the case to a different State.
In her petition, she told the SC that the accused in the case were threatening the witnesses in order to escape punishment.
In its orders, the SC said that the knocking of the door of the apex court of the country by the daughter of the deceased showed the seriousness of the case, and that there was evidence to prove that many pieces of evidences had been destroyed in the case.
It said that the inquiry should go on in the case to bring the facts to the fore.
