The Supreme Court today heard a petition seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail issued to YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy by the Telangana High Court in the sensational Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
The daughter of Vivekananda Reddy and the petitioner in the case, Dr Sunitha Reddy, argued her case on her own. She said that Avinash Reddy was not co-operating with the CBI, and sought a notice issued to the CBI to conduct custodial interrogation of Avinash Reddy.
The SC did not agree to issue any notice to the CBI in the issue.
The hearing was conducted by a bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Asanuddin Amanullah.
Arguing her case, Dr Sunitha Reddy said that the Telangana High Court did not take into account the evidence collected by the CBI and many other factors while granting the anticipatory bail to the MP. She said that the High Court had also passed its order in contravention of the directions of the Supreme Court.
She specifically pointed out to Avinash Reddy not co-operating with the CBI probe. She said that after April 24 Avinash Reddy had been served three notices by the CBI, but did not appear for a hearing citing illness to his mother. She added that when CBI officials went to arrest him, they were stopped by the MP's supporters.
She also claimed that the MP was threatening the witnesses and influencing them, along with other accused in the murder case.
She also alleged that Avinash Reddy was being assisted by AP government machinery, and that he had the support of key people in the ruling party. She added that Avinash Reddy had lodged false complaints against the CBI officials, and that private cases had been registered against them.
She also said that CM Jagan had prior information about the impending murder of her father.
Following Dr Sunitha Reddy's arguments, the Supreme Court posted the matter for further hearing on June 19, and gave her an opportunity to file additional documents after her arguments.
