YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is undergoing treatment in the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences where he was forcibly shifted by the Hyderabad police last night, following his indefinite hunger strike.
The city police decided to shift Jagan to a hospital after doctors, who conducted a series of tests on him, reported that his health was deteriorating. Jagan has been suffering from dehydration and fever, and his blood sugar levels have dipped, they said. Jagan was "lifted" by the police from the fast venue at Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills, and shifted to NIMS.
Meanwhile, security has been enhanced around the NIMS.
Jaganmohan Reddy went on an indefinite hunger strike on October 5, in protest against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh. He questioned as to how the state could be bifurcated without the consent of the State Legislative Assembly.
Jagan held a similar fast, while in jail last month over the Telangana issue. (INN)
