Tension prevailed at the Mahabubnagar R&B guesthouse following clashes between supporters of the TRS and BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy today.
The trouble began when Reddy was scheduled to address the media in the guesthouse. Soon after the BJP leader entered the guesthouse, the TRS workers accosted him and tried to disrupt the media conference saying the BJP leader was leveling baseless corruption charges against the TRS government.
The irate TRS workers reportedly attempted to manhandle Reddy, too, and shouted slogans "Khabardar Nagam" and so on.
Reddy's supporters and TRS workers then pushed each other and argued vehemently, and even clashed, leading to tension in the guesthouse. In the clashes, the window panes of the guesthouse were damaged.
However, the police intervened and brought the situation under control by whisking away the warring political workers to a police station.
Warning the TRS workers, Reddy said that he was not trying to stall the developmental works in the State, but only questioning the corrupt activities of the government.
Questioning the secrecy behind inflating the Palamur lift irrigation project work estimates from Rs 35 crores to Rs 60 crores, Reddy alleged that the TRS government was allotting contracts to ineligible contractors for selfish gains.
He reiterated that he would continue to fight against the corrupt practices of the TRS government what come may.
