Senior BJP leaders N Indrasena Reddy, former MLA and BJP National Executive Member; Gokul Rama Rao, BJP State Legal Cell Joint Convenor; Dr S Prakash Reddy, BJP State Secretary; and N V Subhash, BJP State official spokesperson; on Wednesday wrote to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer requesting stringent action against the mob that allegedly attacked Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender at Palivela village of Munugode Assembly constituency at 12 noon on November 1.
The BJP leaders told the CEO that on November 1 at around 12 noon, a frenzied mob led by MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy had attacked Rajender and his wife at Palivela village, pelting stones at the MLA's convoy and causing grievous injuries to his gunmen, public relations officer and three other BJP activists.
They also told the CEO that election agent Kapilavai Dilip Kumar had already told the local police that this particular village was a sensitive place, and had requested that Central forces, along with the local police, be deployed in order to avoid any untowardly incident. But unfortunately, no policemen were present to protect this permitted rally, they claimed.
They said that similar incidents were also being reported from some other sensitive areas. "Under the circumstances, we request you to take stringent action against MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and his henchmen in order to ensure a fair and free polling process," they urged the CEO.
They said that it had also come to their notice that several TRS MLAs and party activists were still stationed in Munugodu to disrupt the election process by creating fear amongst the voters.
"This is despite the last date for campaigning being November 1. We once again request you to take immediate action and ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful manner," they told the CEO.
