Prime Minister Narendra Modi today warned the opponents of the BJP that there would be serious consequences if any kind of injustice was done to the people of Telangana.
He said that his party and he were least bothered by the abuse they received at the hands of their political opponents, but would not keep silent if their opponents harassed the people of the State.
Addressing a gathering of the party's State unit leaders and workers at the Begumpet airport in the city, Modi said that the party's cadres in the State were very strong in nature and not scared of anybody, and were fighting against their suppression in the State with plenty of spirit. He said that he was drawing a lot of inspiration from them.
Commenting on the recent Munugodu by-election, Modi said that the result had given confidence to the party in the State. He alleged that the entire TRS-led State administration had camped at Munugodu for a single Assembly seat, and the ruling party had still scraped through by just a modest margin.
The dark rule of the TRS would however not continue for a long time in the State, and the BJP's lotus was blooming, he claimed. He expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Telangana.
Deriding CM K Chandrashekar Rao, he also said that Hyderabad had become a hub of the IT sector but leaders who believed in superstitions were ruling the State. He said that the BJP would drive out all the superstitious beliefs in the government after coming into power.
Modi also alleged that the rulers of the State had committed irregularities in the distribution of free ration meant for the poor, and warned that the BJP would not leave those who indulged in such irregularities. He alleged that the corrupt were turning restless as the union government was giving monetary benefits directly to the people of the country using technology and the banking system, and that they (the corrupt) were therefore targeting even the ration meant for the poor now. Corruption and family rule were the enemies of democracy, and his goal was to protect the State from those two demons, the PM said.
Targeting the TRS further, Modi alleged that the State government was diluting the PM Awas Yojana scheme in Telangana, and was obstructing the delivery of the benefits of the scheme to its people. He also alleged that the TRS had cheated the people of the State by retracting from its promise of building free double bedroom houses for homeless families.
