On his 105th birth anniversary, tributes poured in at the highest levels for freedom fighter and Telangana statehood activist Konda Laxman Bapuji.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao led the state in recalling the services rendered by the noted freedom fighter and former minister.
In a message, the Chief Minister said that Bapuji had participated in agitations right from the Quit India movement in 1942 and the non-Mulki agitation in 1952, to the Telangana statehood agitation of the 200s right until his death in 2012. He said that Bapuji would always be an inspiration and remembered for generations to come.
BJP Telangana president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar too paid floral tributes at the portrait of Bapuji, and recalled how Laxman had worked in a selfless manner during the first phase of the Telangana statehood agitation. He then alleged that Chief Minister KCR was ignoring the sacrifices of the true statehood activists, and pointed out that the CM had forgotten his promise to install a statue of Bapuji at Tank Bund.
Another BJP leader DR K Laxman too recalled the services of Bapuji, and he too alleged that the TRS government had failed to fulfill Bapuji's aspirations.
