Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar today alleged that the KCR government had tapped the phones of 6,500 people in Telangana.
He said that he was shocked to learn about the facts revealed during the SIT investigation into the phone-tapping case.
Sanjay made these remarks while addressing the media after appearing before the SIT in connection with the case.
He claimed that the phones of several ministers and MLAs - including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao and himself - were among those tapped.
"They tapped the phones of even current CM Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao and me, citing Maoist links. KCR also tapped the phone of the judge who investigated the TSPSC paper leak case, and even his own daughter Kavitha's phone. BRS leaders blackmailed contractors and political leaders by misusing the Special Intelligence Bureau, threatening them to extort money. They seized Rs 7 crore from the Khammam Congress MP candidate, and also seized crores from the Congress by using the SIB as a trap. They completely corrupted the SIB system, which once had a good reputation across the country. No punishment will be enough for the accused, including Prabhakar Rao and Radhakishan Rao. This needs to be investigated," he said.
Sanjay also alleged that both the BRS and the Congress were hand in glove in the phone-tapping scandal. He urged the CM to seek a CBI inquiry into the matter, and added that the Centre was ready to extend full support to the State government for the probe. He also demanded that the Chief Minister appear before the SIT immediately and give his statement.
