The Government of Telangana today appointed Lieutenant General Harpal Singh (Retd), former Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army and former Director General of the Border Roads Organisation, as its Advisor, recognising his outstanding contributions to infrastructure and engineering in India.
With over 40 years of service, Singh executed several landmark projects, including the Atal Tunnel under the Rohtang Pass and other critical tunnels in the challenging Himalayan terrain.
A civil engineer with advanced training in the USA, he has also guided major civil infrastructure initiatives.
He has also served as President of the International Road Federation, Vice-Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers (India), Chairman of the Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers and Vice-President of the Construction Industry Development Council.
The State irrigation department will draw on his expertise to troubleshoot and accelerate ongoing irrigation projects in Telangana.
