The counsel representing BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao today told the Telangana High Court that the Justice P C Ghose Commission on the Kaleshwaram project had failed to follow the due procedure.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Aryama Sundaram argued that notices were not served properly, nor were copies of the report provided to KCR and former irrigation minister Harish Rao.
He also claimed that the report was politically motivated and intended to damage the BRS and its leadership.
Sundaram submitted his arguments before the High Court, which is hearing the petitions filed by KCR and Harish Rao seeking to quash the report.
On the other hand, Advocate General A Sudarshan Reddy submitted that the Commission's findings were made public through a press conference, uploaded online, and explained through a presentation.
He added that a three-member committee had been constituted to study the report, and that the government planned to place it before the Legislative Assembly for discussion.
Intervening, the court asked why the report was made public before being presented in the Assembly, especially when the petitioners themselves were members of the House. In response, the AG said that journalists had been provided with 60-page copies of the report.
The court then asked the AG whether any action would be taken based on the Commission's findings.
The AG sought more time to clarify the government's stand, following which the matter was posted to Friday for further hearing.
