Telangana To Prepare State Sportsmen For Olympics

Telangana Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Padma Rao Goud directed the sports ministry to start preparing deserving sportspersons for the 2020 Olympics.

Telangana Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Padma Rao Goud today directed the officials of the sports ministry in the State to start setting up facilities to prepare the State's sportspersons for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Holding a high-level review meeting with officials at his chambers in the Secretariat, Goud said that he wanted to send a sizeable sports contingent from Telangana for the 2020 Olympics.

The minister stressed the need for a thorough revamp of the sporting facilities and strengthening of the sports model in the State. In order to achieve this, the government would take steps to strengthen sports schools and develop the youth services department in the State, and provide all necessary facilities and upgrades to the existing stadia, grounds, sports hostels and other sports infrastructure to tap sporting talent from all across the State, he promised.
