Telangana's life sciences sector was witnessing unprecedented growth, attracting massive investments and generating large-scale employment, Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu claimed today.
The State had secured Rs 54,000 crore in investments, and created over two lakh new jobs in the sector, he said.
Speaking at the 6th Board Meeting of the Telangana Life Sciences Foundation, the minister said that the growth reflected Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's vision to position Telangana as a global hub for pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical technologies.
"Hyderabad now ranks among the world's top seven life sciences clusters - the only Indian city to achieve this distinction," he said, crediting proactive State policies and robust infrastructure for attracting global giants including Eli Lilly, Amgen, MSD, Zoetis, Evernorth and Olympus.
He also announced that Telangana would soon launch its Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy, a cutting-edge framework to attract large-scale investments and accelerate innovation.
"The State aims to scale its life sciences economy to USD 250 billion by 2030, aspiring to become the Life Sciences Capital of Asia. As part of its long-term vision, the government will also commission a feasibility report for establishing a Telangana School of Life Sciences to nurture skilled professionals and strengthen industry-academia collaboration," the minister said.
