Accusing the ruling Congress of spreading falsehoods and misleading farmers, Telangana BJP Chief Ramchander Rao today blamed the State government's "mismanagement" for the artificial shortage of urea in the State.
Addressing a press conference at the State party office, Rao alleged that the Revanth Reddy government was creating panic among farmers by claiming that the Centre had failed to supply adequate urea.
"The truth is that the Centre supplied surplus urea to Telangana, but the State government is hiding facts and blaming the Modi government for political mileage. False propaganda and mismanagement are forcing farmers to hoard stocks unnecessarily," he said.
Challenging Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao to a debate, Rao said, "If my figures are wrong, I will resign. If I am right, you should resign."
According to the TBJP Chief, the Centre had supplied 12.47 LMT of urea for Rabi 2024-25 against Telangana's requirement of 9.87 LMT, and another 8.30 LMT for Kharif 2025 so far, apart from buffer stocks. An additional 50,000 MT would reach the State soon after a technical snag at the Ramagundam plant was resolved, he said.
