The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested Golla Durga Prasad, Project Director in the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Warangal, along with a Venu Yadav, owner of Kings Hotel Gudur Toll Plaza, while accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a complainant.
The case was registered yesterday against Prasad and Yadav on allegations that they demanded Rs 1,00,000 as an undue advantage to ensure no hindrance to the complainant's restaurant located near the Gudur toll plaza on the Hyderabad-Warangal Highway at Bibinagar. The demand was routed through Yadav.
After negotiation, Prasad agreed to accept Rs 60,000, assuring the complainant that no issues would arise during his five-year tenure.
The CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. They were arrested and are being produced before the court.
Searches at three locations in Hyderabad, Warangal and Sadashivpet led to the seizure of incriminating documents.
