Telangana Revenue, Housing and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy today regretted that despite the State's Congress government delivering substantialy on development and welfare schemes over the past year and a half, these achievements had not been effectively communicated to the public.
"We haven't been able to adequately convey what the State government has accomplished so far. The positive initiatives are not being effectively shared with the people," Reddy said.
During a video conference with district Information and Public Relations officers at the Secretariat, he also criticised the BRS for "misleading" the public through propaganda reminiscent of Goebbels, and alleged that the party was now criticising the Congress government for not acting in areas that it had failed to act on itself during its decade in power.
He also said that it was the responsibility of the district-level Information and Public Relations officials to ensure that the State government's development and welfare initiatives were effectively communicated to the people.
"For example, the State government has identified 15 lakh impoverished individuals who have been waiting for ration card registration for the past decade, and already issued 7 lakh new ration cards. It has also introduced the Bhu Bharti Act to address land-related issues. Such initiatives need to be aggressively popularised among the people. Despite facing considerable financial challenges, the government remains committed to the welfare of the underprivileged," the minister said.
