Rs 150 Crore For Medaram Sammakka Jathara
The funds will be used for permanent infrastructure works in Medaram, located in Mulugu district.

The State government has approved a budget of Rs 150 crore for the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Maha Jathara.
The Tribal Welfare Department has issued orders for this allocation.
The jathara is scheduled for January 28-31 2026, and the funds will be used for permanent infrastructure works in Medaram, located in Mulugu district.
Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and Tribal Welfare Minister Adluru Laxman Kumar for their support in getting the Rs 150 crore allocated to ensure that the Maha Jathara was organised smoothly.
For the unversed, the Medaram Jathara, also known as Sammakka Saralamma Jathara, is Asia's largest tribal fair, held biennially in honour of tribal goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma. Celebrated in the Tadvai forests, the festival is believed to have originated in the 12th century, and is a symbol of tribal culture, faith and resistance. The Jathara is renowned for its massive gathering - it attracts millions of devotees from across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha - rituals, and offerings of jaggery by devotees who believe it pleases the warrior goddesses.
