The Cabinet sub-committee constituted by the Telangana government to oversee the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme today recommended providing financial assistance to only those farmers having lands being cultivated, and only those who paid income tax.
The sub-committee, led by its Chairman and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with members Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, discussed the scheme's modalities.
According to officials, there are approximately 1.53 crore acres of agricultural land in the State, and only around 1.30 crore acres of those would qualify for the Rythu Bharosa scheme under the above criteria.
It was decided to identify cultivated lands through official surveys and satellite mapping.
A decision regarding the scheme's implementation will be made during the upcoming cabinet meeting scheduled for January 4. Applications from farmers are likely to be accepted from January 5 to 7. The scheme is expected to be implemented in time for Sankranthi (January 14).
