Telangana lawyers warn of resuming protests if cases against Telangana students are not withdrawn.
Hyderabad | 29th September 2010
Warning that the Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee would restart its agitations if the government did not stick to its promises and withdraw all the cases foisted against the Telangana protagonists, JAC convenor M Rajender Reddy stated on Tuesday that the lawyers would meet Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday.

Rajender demanded that the government lift all cases lodged against Telangana protagonists unconditionally.

Talking to media persons, Rajender pointed out that the State government had promised to lift cases filed against students and lawyers during the separate statehood agitations during its talks with the lawyers at the time of the protests over the 42% quota in Judiciary posts.

The JAC convenor also claimed that the government had assured the lawyers that the issue would be decided within 3 weeks. He pointed out that there was no action on the government's promise so far.

The JAC convenor urged the Centre to hasten the process of bifurcation of the State.
