Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, on Sunday, stated that the government would make an announcement on the lifting of police cases against students, who participated in the bifurcation of statehood agitation, after conducting a review meeting with officials.
Talking to media persons after participating in a series of development programmes at Rajendranagar in the city on Sunday, Indra Reddy said that a decision on lifting police cases against students would be taken within 3 to 4 days.
The Home Minister said that the cases would be lifted in a phased manner and the government would issue a statement officially in 3-4 days in this regard.
Meanwhile Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Sunday, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, urging him to lift all police cases against those who participated in the agitations over the bifurcation of statehood.
The MP demanded a clear statement on the issue since the statements of Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao on lifting of police cases were confusing the students.
Rajagopal asked the Chief Minister to lift all police cases against those who participated in the statehood agitation.
