TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today welcomed senior politician and former BJP leader Enugala Peddi Reddy into the pink party.
At a program, which was held at the TRS office, the CM offered Reddy, his followers, and some other leaders, the trademark pink shawls to mark their entry into the ruling party.
Speaking on the occasion amidst thunderous applause, the TRS supremo stated that Reddy was a close friend of his and that he was happy to be inviting him into the TRS and added, "He will get the recognition he deserves as an experienced politician in his time with the TRS. I am confident that with his acumen, he will lead the party well."
He also said, "With leaders like Peddi Reddy joining our party, the TRS will be strengthened at all levels. We will be able to continue to take our welfare schemes to the poor. As for the upcoming by-election in Huzurabad, our party, which has won the hearts of the people of Telangana, will surely also win the seat as well."
The former BJP leader attended the program after reaching the venue from Huzurabad. He is likely to get a top post in the party. In fact, many sources suggest that he might even be picked as the TRS candidate for the Huzurabad by-election.
(Reddy
resigned from the BJP recently. His resignation came just days after another senior party leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu
turned in his papers. Both leaders had held influential posts in the past and were rather unsure about their political futures in the BJP. It is being said that they were dissatisfied that the party was not valuing them for their political experience and acumen.)
During the event, KCR also flayed the Opposition for its "false propaganda" against the TRS government, and said, "Despite the attempts of the Opposition to hinder our developmental works, the works are proceeding just fine. The leaders of the Opposition make deliberate attempts to stall such works. However, we are committed to developing the state through our schemes and will not let anything derail our attempts."
The CM then announced another major initiative, the Chenetha Bima, which is aimed at ensuring the welfare of the state's weaver community.
Revealing the details of the scheme, he stated, "The Chenetha Bima will be implemented with the objective to economically empower the weavers in Telangana. It will be launched as soon as the modalities of the implementation are worked out."
The scheme, announced right on the heels of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, will be seen by many as the TRS' attempts to mobilise support ahead of the Huzurabad election.
