Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today said that examinations for Intermediate students for the academic year 2020-21 would begin from May 3 and would be completed by May 15.
Speaking at a meeting with the DEOs of 33 districts, she said, "Telangana's Intermediate public examinations will be held between May 3 and May 15. The examinations for the 10th class, as had been
announced earlier, will begin from May 17 onwards. Classes for the students will be held until the end of April, and the exams will begin from May after the practical exams."
Reddy also instructed the concerned officials to reopen the schools in the state by February 1 while adhering closely to the Covid-19 safety guidelines.
She took stock of the sanitation and cleaning works that had been started in the schools to implement the guidelines so far.
The minister said that the government had taken all the necessary steps to ensure that the spread of Covid-19 be contained, and urged the parents of the state's school-going children not to worry about sending their wards to school.
"The government has made the required arrangements in all the schools and colleges to ensure that the Covid-19 safety guidelines be followed after the reopening. We are also working to improve the infrastructure of the educational institutions for the successful implementation of the same," she said.
Ever since Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao issued instructions to the educational institutions to commence on-site classes by February 1, the Telangana government has been actively involved in overseeing the preparations for the reopening. 14,252 schools in Telangana, which will reportedly be reopened from February 1, have been making arrangements for the same. A series of meetings have also been conducted in this regard.
