Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today said that while educational institutions in Telangana were opening from July 1, they would only hold online classes.
The Telangana government today said that while all the educational institutions in the state would reopen from July 1, they would conduct only online classes from the KG to the PG level till further notice.
After a meeting with officials of the education department, Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy told the press, "In an effort to shield both school and college employees and students from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided that no regular onsite classes will be conducted till the pandemic situation further settles. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has taken this decision keeping in mind the health and safety of the students."
She revealed that 50% of the teachers employed at each institution would have to attend classes on alternative days as part of these efforts to ensure a safe reopening.
The minister strongly reiterated the decision, and asserted that the state's private schools would have to implement GO 46 this year as well, which meant that they would not be able to increase fees, and would be able to collect only tuition fees on a monthly basis.
Reddy also assured anxious exam takers that there would be no change in the schedule for any common entrance tests.
The officials concerned were instructed to follow all the relevant norms for online classes.
