Hospital Staff To Get Incentives For Normal Deliveries

The government announced incentives of Rs 3,000 per delivery to the staff and field-level workers of government hospitals with more normal deliveries than C-sections.
Hyderabad | 5th August 2022
In a bid to encourage the normal deliveries in government hospitals as opposed to Caesarean sections, the State government on Friday announced "Team-Based Incentives" of Rs 3,000 per delivery to the staff and field-level workers of government hospitals where more normal deliveries than Caesarean sections were performed.

The incentive will be given this year (2022-23) to staff who perform more normal deliveries than were performed during 2021-22 in the same government hospital where they are employed.

Thus, if a public health facility has done 85% normal deliveries in 2021-22, then that will be taken as the benchmark for the facility for the year 2022-23.

A GO (Rt No 486) was passed to give effect to this decision.

The optimal level of normal deliveries as per the World Health Organisation norms is 85%, according to the GO.
