In a rare and complex medical procedure, doctors at RVM Hospital removed a 6-kg tumour from the stomach of a woman, restoring her health and giving her a new lease of life.
The patient, identified as Poppa Raju Pramila, had been suffering from abnormal abdominal growth for several months. Mistaking it for obesity, she resorted to fasting and exercise, but her condition worsened. When she consulted doctors at a private hospital in a metro city, she was told her case was life-threatening and required significant financial expenditure.
Unable to afford the treatment, Pramila turned to the 1,350-bed RVM Hospital in Lakshmakapalli, Vantimamidi, Mulugu mandal, which provides advanced care under the government's Aarogyasri scheme. She was admitted on August 16, where specialists conducted a series of diagnostic tests before deciding on surgery.
A team of medical professionals - including surgical oncologist Dr Kranthi Reddy, assistant surgeon Dr Prasanna, anesthesiologist Dr Vamsi Krishna and gynecologist Dr Tejaswi - performed the surgery under the supervision of RVM Hospital Director Gopi Krishna, CEO Devarakonda Srinivas Rao and Medical Superintendent Dr Srinivas.
Pramila is now reported to be in good health, and her family expressed deep gratitude to the doctors, calling the surgery a life-saving miracle.
