The Bathukamma celebrations in Telangana have secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by setting two records simultaneously.
The Mega Bathukamma festival, organised by the State government, was held at the Saroornagar Stadium in Hyderabad today.
To meet the Guinness World Records criteria, the celebration featured 10,000 participants gathered around a Bathukamma measuring 63.11 feet in height, with Guinness officials overseeing the event.
As a result, the grand Bathukamma celebration now holds two Guinness World Records: one for the largest folk dance and another for the synchronised performance of thousands of women dancing around the 63.11-foot Bathukamma.
Thus, while the State government launched the Maha Bathukamma initiative with the aim of engaging 10,000 participants to earn one Guinness title, the event surpassed expectations by achieving two records.
Prominent figures, including ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Seethakka, Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri, and thousands of other women, participated in the historic celebration.
