Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan today met Himachal Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, and discussed the growing popularity of the BJP in the state.
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan today met the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Bandaru Dattatreya at the Raj Bhavan.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, Dattatreya, who had come to Hyderabad for an official visit, made a courtesy call to his Telangana counterpart and presented her with a traditional Himachali cap and a shawl along with a bouquet.
The Governors exchanged greetings on the occasion, and reportedly spoke about the development programs being undertaken in their respective states.
Reports indicate that the two BJP leaders also spoke about the party's success in the recently-concluded Dubbaka by-election, and the significant increase in its vote share in the recent GHMC elections, and expressed their hope that the party would go on to emerge victorious in the 2023 Assembly elections as well following its surge in popularity in the state.
Not only did the BJP candidate Raghunandan Rao prevail over the TRS candidate Sujatha in the Dubbaka by-election in what can be termed a stunning upset for the ruling party, the saffron party was also able to increase its seat tally significantly from 4 to 44 seats in the GHMC elections. The TRS on the other hand won only 56 seats, losing a whopping 43 of the 99 seats it had won in the previous GHMC elections, and also recorded a sharp fall in its vote share.
