BJP Telangana State president N Ramchander Rao conveyed congratulations to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for its victory in the students union elections at the Hyderabad Central University (HCU).
In a statement, Rao said that the win once again proved that the ABVP was the sole representative of the true aspirations of students.
The ABVP had received unprecedented support as its member students believed, and had a clear understanding, that the nation came first, followed by caste and religion, he said.
He recalled how opposition parties had previously spread lies and malicious propaganda against the ABVP and the BJP, exploiting the Rohith Vemula incident. "They tried to divide students along the lines of caste and religion. But in the end, the students themselves realised the truth, and delivered a grand victory, which will encourage the ABVP to work with even greater responsibility. This victory was a strong response to the disruptive Leftist and separatist forces," Rao said.
The Telangana BJP chief pointed out that despite there being 12-13 student organisations in the HCU, no one except the ABVP had the courage to contest the elections alone because they lacked numerical and ideological support among the students. They formed alliances with the support of leftist, religious and separatist forces, and their only agenda was to sideline the students' issues and impose anti-national politics, he alleged.
"The ABVP works on three pillars - patriotism, nationalism and student welfare. Nationalist organisations like ABVP and BJP are an inspiration to the youth of India. Alliances based on divisive and foreign ideologies cannot win over students' minds," he added.
