A case has been registered against Praja Shanti Party president K A Paul, a pastor-turned-politician, at the Panjagutta police station in Hyderabad after a young woman lodged a complaint against him.
The complainant approached Hyderabad's SHE Teams alleging that Paul had sexually harassed her. The case was subsequently handed over to the Panjagutta police, who then registered a case under sections 75 (sexual harassment), 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and launched an investigation.
According to the complaint, the woman had been working as an American coordinator in the night shift at Paul's company for the past few days. The young woman has also stated in her complaint that he sexually harassed her. She also said that she had submitted evidence of the harassment to the SHE Teams.
Reacting to the registration of the case Paul called it a conspiracy to stop him from contesting the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency by-election. He said that he would file a defamation suit against those responsible for the allegations.
