The Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament today, and what followed was among the worst clashes that the House witnessed.
One MP allegedly took out a knife, following which some sets of MPs, ran. Some MPs rushed to the well of the House and started protesting, and this was when Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal reportedly used pepper spray. There are even rumours of someone breaking a microphone and stabbing himself with it. Plus, someone was reportedly even beaten up by a bunch of MPs.
A Parliament doctor was sent in, and the House was adjourned until 2pm while the Lok Sabha is being evacuated and aired.
Parliamentary Affairs minister Kamal Nath was among those called the whole thing a blot on democracy. He said he would recommend to Speaker Meira Kumar that the MPs who indulged in these acts are punished. However, he confirmed that the Bill has been intriduced in the Lok Sabha.
Seemandhra MP Lagadapati Rajagopal was among the MPs who were expelled from the Congress for moving a no-confidence motion against the PM to prevent the Telangana Bill from being introduced and passed.
