Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Endowments Minister Dandu Sivaramaraju passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
Sivaramaraju was undergoing treatment at the Nizam's Institute for Medical Sciences. He had represented Attili Assembly constituency in West Godavari district, and had served as Endowments Minister in Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had called on the recuperating Sivaramaraju at NIMS on Thursday, and wished him speedy recovery.
Naidu expressed his shock at the former minister's passing away. In a message, the TDP chief and party leader Nandamuri Harikrsihna conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has lost several senior leaders in the last 6 months with the passing away of Ramakrishna Reddy from Chittoor, Narayana Swamy from Podili, Venkateswara Rao from Karimnagar and Simhadri Satyanarayana from Avanigadda.
Sivaramaraju was elected to the Assembly from Attili constituency in 1989 and 1999, but lost to Congress candidates in 1994 and 2004 Assembly polls. He got 61% of total polled votes in 1999 Assembly elections. He also lost in the 2007 MLC elections from East-West Godavari Graduates constituency.
The TDP leaders did not contest the 2009 Assembly elections after his constituency Attili was merged with Tanuku due to delimitation exercise in 2008.
