Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today announced that the Gaddar Film Awards (erstwhile Nandi Awards) function would be conducted on a grand scale, and would be comparable to international film award ceremonies.
Speaking at a jury meeting for the awards held at the L V Prasad Cine Lab, Bhatti said that the State government was committed to organising the awards function without any compromise, and urged the committee members and officials to make the ceremony, to be held in Hyderabad, a globally talked-about event.
He also said that the film industry in Telangana had been neglected over the past decade, with the distribution of film awards halted since 2011, hindering the industry's growth. However, the government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's leadership, was committed to revitalising the industry, he claimed.
"In addition to awards for films, we are presenting special accolades in the names of people who have brought pride and recognition to the industry. These should serve as an inspiration for future generations," he added.
Speaking about Gaddar, he said, "We are fortunate that Gaddar was born in Telangana. Such remarkable individuals emerge only once in a decade. He was instrumental in sharing the soul and culture of Telangana with the world. He conveyed the principles of Telangana's identity to the nation and beyond."
Bhatti also urged the jury members to judge films objectively, setting aside personal relationships or biases.
